Glendale's Loop 101/I-17 Corridor: The Northwest Valley's Highest-Risk Interchange

The interchange where the Agua Fria Freeway (Loop 101) meets the Black Canyon Freeway (I-17) carries the Northwest Valley's commuter load and a heavy share of Arizona's north-south freight — a combination that produces some of the region's most serious accidents.

Two traffic populations, one structure. The I-17 is the primary trucking route between Phoenix and northern Arizona; the Loop 101 feeds Glendale, Peoria, and Sun City commuters into it.
